KidsCan (NZ)

1 in 7 Kiwi kids live in material hardship – growing up without essentials like nutritious food, warm clothing and health products. KidsCan supports tens of thousands of children in more than 1,500 schools and early childhood centres nationwide, providing these essentials so kids are warm, fed and ready to learn.

Education gives children a pathway out of poverty, and KidsCan helps to remove barriers that make it difficult for kids to get to school and learn. 169,000 Kiwi children (14.2%) are living without things like fresh fruit and vegetables, two pairs of good shoes, or new clothes when they’re worn out. By providing these essentials, kids can arrive ready to learn and thrive.

KidsCan relies on support from donors, partners and fundraisers to be able to support schools and early childhood centres. This support remains in place for as long as it is needed – some have been with us for almost 20 years. Schools and ECEs know the needs of their children best, and they order the food, clothing and health products they require. Fundraising will directly contribute towards supporting kids in need with these essential items.
