Hategan Foundation (Romania)

Hategan Foundation

Hațegan Foundation is a Romania-based nonprofit, founded in 2012, supporting vulnerable children through education, health, and community programs. Working in western Romania, we address poverty, school dropout, and social exclusion. Through initiatives like “An Edelweiss for a Warm Meal”, we provide daily meals and encourage school attendance, aiming to create lasting impact by helping children stay in education and build a better future.

In Timișoara and surrounding communities, many children face poverty, food insecurity, and limited access to educational support, increasing the risk of school dropout. Nearly 4 in 10 children in Romania are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Hațegan Foundation addresses this by supporting vulnerable children with essential resources, helping them remain in education and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.

Fundraising will be directed entirely toward supporting vulnerable children in Timișoara and surrounding communities in western Romania, particularly those at risk of school dropout due to poverty. Funds will provide daily warm meals in partner centres and community programs, helping improve children’s health, concentration, and school participation. The edelweiss-shaped brooch, given for each 30 lei donation, symbolises solidarity and encourages engagement. Hațegan Foundation works with local partners to ensure effective delivery of support.
